Summary: A boy in Harry’s grade school tells his mom about Harry turning his teacher’s hair blue, everything changes from there
A boy in Harry’s grade school tells his mom about Harry turning his teacher’s hair blue, mom asks if he’s done any other strange things. Turns out mom is a squib and recognizes that the boy is a wizard. Due to some concerning things her son says, she decides to check into things. Harrys’ home life is discovered, Petunia and Vernon are jailed for child abuse through the muggle government, mom gets the goblins involved to keep things quiet about the change in custody due to who Harry is. After spending several of his formative years with his new family - mom and Thorton (call me Thorn) - Harry is much more knowledgeable about how things work in the wizarding world.
After mom speaks to the goblins with Harry, they find out about Sirius being Harrys’ godfather. Deciding to find out more about what happened, they find copies of the old newspapers and discover only articles mentioning Sirius’ arrest and then him being thrown in jail while all the “other” Deatheaters have their trials mentioned. Thinking it odd, they contact the DMLE and ask for information about the trial. Eventually Amelia gets brought into it and it’s found that Sirius never had a trial. He ends up freed, and an article proclaiming him free and clear of all charges is printed and then no one in the wizarding world hears from him after. He winds up moving in with mom and the boys after a stint in the hospital to recover from his prison stay to help raise the boys.
Harry gets his letter, sends his confirmation, and is done with it. His mom reads a news article about how there was an altercation at 4 Privet Dr. when an unknown man broke in and frightened the family living there demanding to see somebody named Harry and calling them all Dursley (for further information regarding the charges and incarceration of the Dursley Parents, see pg.4). His family takes him into Diagon to get his supplies later. During his fitting, he has a confrontation with Draco who winds up insulting Harry’s family. Mom is not impressed, winds up chastising Draco and demands to speak to his parents about his behavior. (“My father will hear about this!” “Good, because I want to talk to him and your mother”) Turns out, he’s been spending time with his ancestor’s portraits without his parents’ knowledge and they’re now going to have to break him of several bad habits.
On boarding the train, Harry becomes quickly disenchanted with the whole mess as he finds Ron and Hermione to be extremely rude on top of already having dealt with a rude Draco at his fitting. Hogwarts continues to be a disappointment as he’s dragged into more and more nonsense as the year goes on.
